Prerequisites

Before continuing, ensure you have the following:
  • A valid TechWolf contract and access to a live TechWolf tenant.
  • An SAP SuccessFactors environment with Talent Intelligence Hub implemented.
Enabling Talent Intelligence Hub activates the Attributes Library. This adds supports for using TechWolf skills in your SuccessFactors environment.
  • Access to the TechWolf SFTP server to host the integration files.
  • An SAP support case to whitelist the TechWolf SFTP server .

SAP SuccessFactors Configuration

TechWolf has already pre-configured some parts of the integration. The following ZIP archive contains the necessary files that will be used in the subsequent steps to configure the integration in SAP SuccessFactors.

Required files

Required files for the SAP Skills Taxonomy Sync Integration
The setup in SAP SuccessFactors consists of loading, configuring and scheduling a collection of import and export integrations in the Integration Center of SAP SuccessFactors. For these schedules, timing is important. Ideally, the export tasks are scheduled to complete shortly before the SAP Skills Taxonomy Sync operations are scheduled to start at TechWolf’s side, and the import tasks soon after they’re scheduled to complete. By default, these operations can be presumed to start at 1:00 AM UTC and complete by 2:00 AM UTC every day. Consult your TechWolf representative for updated information on this schedule. Note that the daily TechWolf schedule does not require the SAP schedules to also run daily; these can be scheduled to run less frequently (e.g. weekly, monthly) with no negative impact.
  1. Create the TechWolf Attribute Import Schedule Follow the steps in How To: Load Import Integration Definitions to create a new integration definition that will load the TechWolf skills as attributes into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition.
    Configuration ItemValue
    Integration Definitiontechwolf_attribute_import_definition.icd
    File Name PrefixTechWolfAttributeImport
    Date Suffix FormatyyyyMMdd
    File Folder/tih/imports/attributes
Base ICD: Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Import
  2. Create the TechWolf Attribute Export Schedule Follow the steps in How To: Load Export Integration Definitions to create a new integration definition that will export the SAP counterparts of the previously loaded in TechWolf skills out of SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition.
    Configuration ItemValue
    Integration Definitiontechwolf_attribute_export_definition.icd
    File Name PrefixTechWolfAttributeExport
    Date Suffix FormatyyMMddHHmmssZ
    File Folder/tih/exports/attributes
Base ICD: Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Export
  3. Create the TechWolf Tag Import Schedule Follow the steps in How To: Load Import Integration Definitions to create a new integration definition that will load the TechWolf skill clusters as tags into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition.
    Configuration ItemValue
    Integration Definitiontechwolf_tag_import_definition.icd
    File Name PrefixTechWolfTagImport
    Date Suffix FormatyyyyMMdd
    File Folder/tih/imports/tags
    Processing Folder/tih/processed/tags
Base ICD: Talent Intelligence Hub Tag Import
  4. Create the TechWolf Tag Export Schedule Follow the steps in How To: Load Export Integration Definitions to create a new integration definition that will export the SAP tag counterparts of the previously loaded in TechWolf skill clusters out of SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition.
    Configuration ItemValue
    Integration Definitiontechwolf_tag_export_definition.icd
    File Name PrefixTechWolfTagExport
    Date Suffix FormatyyMMddHHmmssZ
    File Folder/tih/exports/tags
Base ICD: Talent Intelligence Hub Tag Export
  5. Create the TechWolf Attribute-Tag Mapping Import Schedule Follow the steps in How To: Load Import Integration Definitions to create a new integration definition that will load the mapping between TechWolf skills (attributes in SAP) and TechWolf skill clusters (tags in SAP) into SAP SuccessFactors. Use the values from the table below when setting up the integration definition. For optimal operation, this integration only runs after the related runs of the Attribute Import (Step 1) and the Tag Import (Step 3) are completed. Therefore, the time of day of the Start Time of the schedule should be set to be some time (e.g. one hour) after the time of day of those import schedules.
    Configuration ItemValue
    Integration Definitiontechwolf_attribute_tag_mapping_import_definition.icd
    File Name PrefixTechWolfAttributeTagMappingImport
    Date Suffix FormatyyyyMMdd
    File Folder/tih/imports/attribute_tag_mapping
    Processing Folder/tih/processed/attribute_tag_mapping
Base ICD: Talent Intelligence Hub Attribute Tag Mapping Import
The ICDs provided by TechWolf are based on the default integration definitions by SAP, as indicated by the Base ICD mentioned. These have been pre-filled with some necessary values such as the file name prefix for your convenience, to ease the setup process. TechWolf is committed to keeping these integration definitions up to date with the latest SAP SuccessFactors releases, but cannot guarantee full alignment with the SAP SuccessFactors release schedule. Should issues arise when using these integration definitions, please contact [email protected].
To make sure the skills added to the Attributes Library are recognized by the intelligent systems within SAP, the Standardization Process must be executed for these skills. This is a manual process that must be executed by your SAP administrator. It is not process-critical for all skills to be standardized, so the standardization process can be executed on a periodic basis, less frequently than the daily synchronization of the Attributes Library, e.g. quarterly. It is highly recommended to execute the standardization process at least once after the initial setup of the integration and initial population of the Attributes Library.

TechWolf Configuration

The TechWolf tenant will be configured by TechWolf itself.
  1. TechWolf adds TechWolf API credentials with correct scopes to have access to the TechWolf API and links that TechWolf tenant to the SAP SuccessFactors tenant.
  2. TechWolf enables the schedule to create and consume the SAP SuccessFactors Attributes Library import and export files, respectively, on TechWolf’s side.
