# Overview

# Skills Taxonomy Sync Integration with SAP SuccessFactors

This Deployment Guide provides instructions that will assist in the process of
deploying the SAP SuccessFactors - TechWolf Skills Taxonomy Sync Integration,
including detail on the configuration and deployment of the integration in the
customer's SAP SuccessFactors tenant. The intended audience for this document is
the Integration Implementer.

## Integration

The Integration has been designed, developed, tested, documented, and deployed
by TechWolf with SAP's guidance and oversight. The integration facilitates the
flow of skill data between SAP SuccessFactors and TechWolf. It is not intended
to address every use case a customer may be interested in. The customer benefits
by receiving pre-built, pre-tested, documented, partner-maintained integrations
that minimize implementer's effort as compared to custom integrations for the
specific use case(s) addressed.

## Functional Objective

TechWolf and SAP are partnering to enhance skill management within
organizations. TechWolf leverages data from various sources, including business
systems, to infer skills for employees and jobs. To provide a comprehensive and
structured view of skills, TechWolf provides the feature to create a custom
Skills Taxonomy, tailored to your business needs. This taxonomy provides a
hierarchical structure of only the business-relevant skills for easy management
and use. Likewise, the Talent Intelligence Hub module in SAP SuccessFactors
provides the ability to create a custom Attributes Library, also containing only
the business-relevant skills.

This integration enables the synchronization of the TechWolf Skills Taxonomy
with the SAP SuccessFactors Attributes Library. It ensures that the skills in
both systems are the same and up-to-date. This enables the use of the subset of
the skills in the TechWolf Vocabulary that is important for your business to
also be used in SAP SuccessFactors, and conversely, any additional skills
tracked in SAP SuccessFactors that are not part of the TechWolf Vocabulary can
also be managed and used in TechWolf.

Additionally, the integration tags the skills in the Attributes Library with the
appropriate skill clusters from the TechWolf Skills Taxonomy. This provides
extra structure and context to the Attributes Library and the skills therein.

This integration serves as a critical enabler of the SAP - TechWolf Employee
Skill Sync integration and SAP - TechWolf Job Skill Sync integration, as these
rely on the presence of a shared skills vocabulary between both systems.

Changes that are made to the TechWolf Skills Taxonomy are synchronized to SAP
SuccessFactors on a regular basis (daily, weekly, ..., as requested). Changes
that are made to SAP SuccessFactors Attributes Library are also reflected back
to TechWolf on a similar schedule.

**Key benefits:**

* TechWolf synchronizes the set of used skills between both systems, ensuring
all business-relevant skills are available in both systems.
* The accurate and up-to-date skill data in SAP SuccessFactors can be used for
  downstream purposes within SAP.
* Having a unified set of skills in both systems enables the skill profiles of
employees and jobs in SAP SuccessFactors and TechWolf to be synchronized
  seamlessly, using the

  and

  integrations.

<Note>
To make sure the skills added to the Attributes Library are recognized by the intelligent systems within SAP,
the **Standardization Process** must be executed for these skills.
This is a manual process that must be executed by your SAP administrator.

It is not process-critical for *all* skills to be standardized,
so the standardization process can be executed on a periodic basis,
less frequently than the daily synchronization of the Attributes Library, e.g. quarterly.
It is highly recommended to execute the standardization process at least once after the
initial setup of the integration and initial population of the Attributes Library.
